  • "In this book Dr Myron Weisfeldt provides fascinating insights into the world of academic medicine in the United States. During his outstanding career, Dr Weisfeldt has held several prestigious positions, particularly in academic cardiology. The story of how he got there and, even more impressively, of how he stayed at the top of his game for so long, provides valuable lessons to anyone considering an academic career. However, Dr Weisfeldt’s observations remind us of just how intensely competitive the academic medical world is – success requires having not just a strong scientific brain but also political prowess and preparedness to make personal sacrifices.
    - It is a pleasure to commend this book to anyone with an interest in academic medicine in general and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in particular." Professor Jerry Nolan
  • "Weisfeldt’s autobiographical book is filled with candid observations on the opportunities and challenges he faced while developing his identity as an insightful and productive investigator, influential mentor, and effective administrator. Academic medicine has changed significantly in the past half century, and many of the critical career steps Weisfeldt describes are unique to the person, time, and place. But several timeless themes are woven into this rich and highly readable narrative that will be useful to early career physicians, medical scientists, and others interested in academic medicine."
    - W. Bruce Fye MD Cardiovascular Historian; Emeritus Professor of Medicine and the History of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, USA
  • "A renown physician tells the story of how his drive for new knowledge and mentorship resulted in dramatic improvements in human health especially in CPR and defibrillators."
    - Edward D. Miller MD Dean/ CEO John’s Hopkins Medicine Emeritus
