Pondermotive Wave Forcing of Cosmic Plasma with Addendum on Climate Change and Dark Matter Issues

From £37.99

This book examines Ponderomotive Wave Forcing, a key process in cosmic plasma acceleration. It explores its significance for Magnetic Moment Pumping (MMP) in the solar-planetary environment and beyond, covering its effects on ions, electrons, and neutral particles.

This book is about the consequences of a space plasma acceleration process called Ponderomotive Wave Forcing. After a brief resume, the book proceeds with an examination of several “issues” regarding the concept of ponderomotive wave forcing, and its relevance for cosmic plasma acceleration.
Examples of the applicability of ponderomotive wave forces, and its significance for magnetic moment pumping (MMP) in the solar-planetary plasma environment and beyond are presented.
While the plasma acceleration process (MMP) may be charge-specific, e.g. negative (downward) for electrons, and positive (upward) for positive for ions, neutral particles may also be subject to a mechanism denoted “charge exchange”, i.e., previously positive ions may be transferred from ionized particles to neutral particles. Such areas of understanding are covered in depth in this book.

Rickard Lundin, obtained his PhD in Space Physics from the Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF). He was a Professor at IRF and the University of Umea from 1988 and Director at IRF in Kiruna from 1994 to 2003. He was Responsible for the design and development of particle spectrometers in his early career. He is the Principal Investigator (PI) for plasma spectrometers on 6 space probes orbiting Earth, Mars, and a comet. His present research focusses on planetary ion acceleration and outflow, caused by EUV and solar wind forcing, short (hours) to long term (Billon years) consequences of the variable solar forcing for the escape of matter from terrestrial planets. He has authored/co-authored around 340 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Hans Lidgren, works on the concept of gravitation governed by the Miller force, and the fundamentals of Cosmic Implications of neutron spallation, neutron capture, and nuclide transmutation.
