This book is the only monograph that analyses in detail and comprehensively, at a high scientific level and in a concise form, the main issues of skeletal rearrangements, which are of exceptional importance in synthetic organic chemistry. Particular attention is paid to the description of the mechanisms of skeletal rearrangements leading to hard-to-reach and valuable natural bioactive compounds, the synthesis of which by other routes is extremely difficult. A description of the mechanisms of over one hundred examples of reactions occurring through skeletal rearrangements of various types is given. The book will be useful for chemists and researchers working in the field of organic synthesis and can also be recommended to teachers, postgraduate students and students of higher education institutions and universities.

Ismailov Sokhrab Ahmed Oglu was born in 1950 in Galynchag, Ismayilli region, Azerbaijan. In 1973, he graduated with honors from the Chemistry Department of the Pedagogical Institute of Azerbaijan. The same year, he entered a full-time postgraduate program at the Institute of Petrochemical Processes of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. In 1992, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation at the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Ural Scientific Center of the Academy of Sciences of Russia. He is currently a senior researcher at the Institute of Petrochemical Processes of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
